Do you want to learn how to make money just by walking!? Well I have all the answers you are looking for.
It’s 2020 which means new year new me right? Some of the most common new years resolutions are to make money or get fit but I bet you never thought you could do that by walking. In this post, I’ve compiled a list of ways to do both at the same time!
Apps are everyone’s new best friend. All you have to have is a smartphone, and you will be on your way to a healthy little side hustle this year.
Rover
I have first hand experience with Rover, and can vouch that you do make some good money! Not only will you get some fresh air and some steps in, but you’ll get to meet lots of different furry little four-legged babies.
Simply download the app.
And pay $25 for a background check (you can make this back in 1-2 walks). You’re now on your way to start booking clients.
Time To Make Money By Walking!
You are able to set your prices, and can choose what jobs you want to accept or decline. Once the job is completed, Rover will pay you 80% of your rate (it usually takes a day or two for your money to hit your Rover account). I personally set my walking rate for $20 dollars. (I make $16 after Rover takes its cut). And it’s only 30 minutes of your day!
The cool thing about this app is that you can make more money by dog sitting at other people’s homes, sitting dogs in your own home, or accepting drop in visits where you let clients dogs outside or feed them while their owners are away.
Once your profile is up and running, people in your area can choose you to walk, sit, or let out their dogs. If your prices are right, the clients will come flocking in. Make sure to check out what others are charging in the area! I was able to get away with a slightly higher home sitting charge, because I built up my client base, had repeat clients, and had a 5 star rating from everyone who I worked with.
Wag
Just like Rover, you can get paid to walk dogs. On average a walker will make around $17,50 per walk, but the only downside of this app is that Wag takes around 40% of your earnings.
It’s a great app with great opportunities to get outdoors and enjoy the company of other people’s dogs.
More money can be made with Wag just like Rover if you want to dog sit as well.
Sweatcoin
This is the app that pays you to get fit! Another simple way to make money by walking.
Founded in 2016, Sweatcoin pays users 0.95 sweatcoins for every 1,000 steps. This digital currency can be used to purchase fitness gear, gift cards and workout classes in the app’s marketplace
For a better understanding on what the coins translate too
- About 20,000 sweatcoins could get you an iPhone X! That translates to just over 21 million steps.
Thing about your daily activity level and push yourself further. All you have to do is set up your profile, then “step up” and collect sweatcoins.
Achievement
Achievement is a walking app that pays you for tracking your health habits such as various types of exercise, diet, water intake and even the hours of sleep you accumulate through the night.
FitBit or MyFitnessPal app are just a couple of the apps it will connect to it and pay you for the points you accumulate. So again, all you have to do is sit back, and let the apps do their jobs while you walk.
To earn $10, you would have to reach 10,000 points. Each day you are able to earn 80 points for each type of tracked physical activity. Then an additional 6 points per day for logging food, sleep tracking, weighing yourself, meditating or sharing your health journey on Twitter.
The best part of this app is that the points do not expire! So whether it takes you 3 months to reach your goal or 10, you are still going to be rewarded.
Dicks
Now this app you don’t get physical cash, but you are awarded $10 in store or online credit to Dicks Sporting Goods once you hit 300 points. You get a 150 points just for signing up, so you’re already half way there when you start!
I currently use this app as well, and it is so fun checking my app to see when I hit my daily goal.
All you have to do is walk 3 miles through out the day to gain 3 points. As a PE teacher, it is EXTREMELY easy for me to get my points for the day in before my lunch break so having this app is a no brainer. But for people who work more sedentary jobs, this app will give you a great incentive to walk on your lunch break or take a morning or evening stroll around your neighborhood.
I am literally making money by walking all day on the job! Store credit money but hey it’s a great store!
Step Bet
This is an app that I haven’t tried yet, but being a PE teacher I am competitive by nature, and I will definitly be downloading this.
The purpose is to help motivate you to live an active lifestyle and promoting healthy living.
You bet on yourself to achieve specific goals that Step Bet will calculate for you. What a creative way to get people moving!
If you bet that you will reach the realistic goal that Step Bet created for you, the app will pay you what you wagered, but if you do not reach that goal, you will end up losing money.
I personally think that is a HUGE motivator! Who doesn’t want to win right?
Healthy Wage
You can win $10,000 if you achieve your set goals….WHAT?
This app does not pay you for steps. But it focus’s on making weight loss and fitness more fun and effective. You will make a personalized bet on your weight loss which could potentially pay you up to $10,000 dollars.
You will win different prizes depending on your weight loss goals. The bigger prize offers usually are awarded to people who statistically have a harder time losing weight.
Sounds like a healthy bet I’d like to make.
Walgreens Balance Rewards
If you are a Walgreens shopper, you can register for a Walgreens Balance Rewards program account on their website to earn points that can save you money when you shop there.
Just register, and then download the app and link it to a fitness tracker.
To earn 20 points, you only need to log 1 mile. Additional points can be earned by logging your weight and blood info.
Shipt
This side hustle is cool, because you’ll be getting your steps in while helping out someone by getting their groceries for them.
A Shipt shopper is able to set their own schedule, which is nice for some of us full time workers.
You would be shopping and delivering groceries to Shipt members within a requested time frame. All of the scheduling, accepting orders, and shopping orders are done through the Shipt Shopper app, making it so simple for you.
As a Shipt Shopper, you could make $16-$22 an hour plus tips! Some members have even reported making more.
Door Dash
If you live in a busy city where everyone gets around on foot, Door Dash might be a nice side hustle for you.
You are able to choose your own hours, and there is no minimum requirement in order to keep your account active.
Sometimes you will get lucky and the customers will give you cash tips, increasing your delivery pay out overall.
